St Michael's Church School
St Michael’s Church School currently has four different classes operating for the following age groups:- Junior (3-6yrs)
- Intermediate One (7-8yrs)
- Intermediate Two (9-12yrs)
- Senior (13-18yrs)
The Church school Curriculum selected is in line with the curriculum used in the Serbian Orthodox Church parishes of America and Canada from the Orthodox Christian Education Commission.
The aim of the curriculum is to establish a strong spiritual foundation of faith for each student and to expand on this as relevant to their age. The student is able to graduate through each group and level of curriculum which has been tailored to their stages of faith. The scope covers the five main areas:
- Biblical
- Church History and Tradition
- Doctrine
- Liturgical (Prayer and Worship/Sacraments)
- Ethical and Spiritual
The curriculum also includes preparation of children for the sacrament of confession which is available to all on a regular basis usually once a month.
Registration for church school can be done on any Sunday in January. Forms will be made available on the church school noticeboard and then can be handed to the church school co-ordinator. There is also a small fee per child to cover books and materials for the year.
Incorporated in the life of St Michael’s parish is the introduction of boys to learn how to be altar servers. There is a roster for boys interested in participating. Parents can ask Father John for details.
